HA NOI, Vietnam (Mar. 11, 2020) -- Vietnam Airlines has announced they will temporarily reduce the frequency of flights between Vietnam and Europe starting Mar. 25, 2020. This is one of the latest efforts of Vietnam Airlines to help limit the spread of Covid-19, while maintaining its role of a bridge between Vietnam and Europe.
Vietnam Airlines will temporarily reduce to a total of 14 flights per week between Vietnam and Europe. The cut routes include flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and London (England), Paris (France), Frankfurt (Germany).
Vietnam Airlines is currently the only Vietnamese airline operating routes between Vietnam and Europe. These flight routes have special significance in economics, politics and diplomacy. Vietnam Airlines will aim to soon recover the frequency of flights once the epidemic is well under control.
Vietnam Airlines is currently measuring the temperature of all departing passengers from Europe before boarding and also providing fitted face masks for passengers onboard. All international flights to Vietnam and flights that carried passengers with abnormal medical conditions are disinfected.
Vietnam Airlines continues to implement preventive measures on all flights. Starting earlier this year, the airline has provided face masks, hand sanitizer for all crew and passengers as needed, in addition to adjusting the temperature in the cabin to 26°C.
Europe is currently one of the areas where Covid-19 outbreaks has grown more complicated, with hundreds of new cases being announced every day. Therefore, as of Mar. 12, 2020 the Vietnamese Government has agreed to suspend the application visa exemption for citizens of 8 European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain.
