HANOI, Vietnam (May 23, 2018) -- Writers, filmmakers and travellers have a special opportunity to share their travel stories about Vietnam and win prizes in a contest titled 'Vietnam - Timeless Charm'.

Organised by Vietnam's national tourism authority and Lao Động newspaper, the contest aims to draw engaging entries on the beauty of Vietnam and its best tourism assets.

From now until June 30, 2018, interested participants can enter their articles or videos in the contest for a chance at 14 prizes. First-prize winners will receive VND 20 million in cash plus a trip in Vietnam, while second-prize winners will enjoy rewards of VND 15 million in cash and vouchers and coupons from top travel companies. 

The contest welcomes entries from foreigners living in Vietnam. Videos and articles can range from destination guides to essays on the development of Vietnamese tourism. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges from Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism and Lao Động Newspaper.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Entries should be no more than 1,500 words long and must include at least 1 high-quality photo. Series should have no more than 5 chapters. Participants can send their entries in digital files, CDs, or hard copies.

• Videos should be no more than 8 minutes (*.flv or *.mp4 format) and must include a title, voice and/or captions which describe the story. Participants can email the video directly or send the Youtube link.

• Entries should have no spelling, typing, or grammatical errors. 

• Articles should be typed using font Times New Roman.
   

CONTEST RULES

• Entries should be about real people and real events relating to the tourism activities and destinations in Vietnam.

• Participants can submit multiple entries but can use only one name or a pseudonym.

• Entries must include the title, creator’s full name, age, job, sex, contact address, telephone number, and email (if any.)

• Each entry should be the original property of the owner and must not be published on any media channels, websites or other contests.
   

PRIZES

MAIN PRIZES (VOTED BY THE JUDGING PANEL)

• 02 First Prizes (01 for an article, 01 for a video): 20 mil. VND in cash + a vacation in Vietnam for two people.

• 02 Second Prizes: 15 mil. VND in cash + discount coupons for rooms and services at leading hotels and resorts in Vietnam, or discount coupons for flight tickets for two people.

• 03 Third Prizes: 10 mil. VND in cash + discount coupons for rooms and services at top-class hotels/resorts in Vietnam, or discount coupons for flight tickets for two people.

• 05 Encouragement Prizes: 5 mil. VND in cash

• 02 Prizes for tourism workers: 15 mil. VND in cash

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

• #1: By the judging panel (in the scale of 100 points)

• #2: Counted by the number of views, likes, and shares on the website laodong.vn*

1 view = 1 point, 1 like/share = 1 point

*#2 will be calculated as % and then turned into points

• The final score = (#1 x 2 + #2)/3

• Contest announcement: October 13, 2017

• Deadline for submission: June 30, 2018 (according to the postmark, email)

There will be 02 rounds:

• Round 1: October 13, 2017 to January 31, 2018

• Round 2: February 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018

• Prize Awarding Day (tentative): July 9, 2018 on Vietnam Tourism Day at Hanoi Opera House

The list of winners will be published on the websites laodong.vn and vietnamtourism.gov.vn, and on the Facebook fanpage Bao Lao Dong.
