HA NOI, Vietnam (Dec. 20, 2019) —  Vietnam’s government yesterday announced the extension of its 15-day visa exemption programme for citizens of eight countries: Russia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Belarus — until the end of 2022. 

Visitors from these eight countries will be permitted to enter Vietnam visa-free, for a period of no more than 15 days. 

The Vietnamese government issued Resolution 117/NQ-CP on December 9, 2019. Article 12 of the resolution states:

“The Government agreed to extend the visa exemption to December 31, 2022 for citizens of Russia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Belarus when entering Vietnam with temporary stay in Vietnam not exceeding 15 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry on the basis of meeting all the conditions prescribed by Vietnamese law.”

Vietnam currently offers visa exemptions to citizens of 24 countries, and an e-Visa to citizens of 80 countries. International travellers can also visit the island of Phu Quoc visa-free for up to 30 days.
